As of January 1st, 2003 the Laws affecting Rental Property Owners changed drastically. In Oakland, Rental Housing Providers are faced with new Eviction Control Laws (Measure EE) and new Rent Control Laws. In short, if a tenant challenges an eviction and wins in court, the tenant can sue the rental housing provider for actual damages X 3, punitive damages, and attorney fees, a financial catastrophe.
On the State level, there are new requirements and penalties regarding the return of Security Deposits and a new Move Out Inspection process. In addition, if you are NOT using current CAA Legal Forms, you are not in compliance with the new laws, and costing yourself more time, money and headaches in the future.
The Rental Housing Association of Northern Alameda County (RHANAC) is a nonprofit organization representing over 20,000 Rental Housing Owners and Property Managers throughout the East Bay.
